They look amazing, as well as offering guests something fun to do while they visit.
You can even host competitions on your island – and we’re pretty sure you’ll find one of your villagers stuck in the middle of your maze at some point. But it’s all good fun, right?
If you’re thinking about adding a maze but aren’t sure where to start, we’ve got you covered with a whole bunch of crazy mazes from other ACNH players.
10. Natural Maze
It’s easy to get lost in this super green maze!
To create this on your own island you’ll need a bunch of hedges to get started (of course).
Be sure to organize the hedges into different paths, making sure some of them lead to a dead end to create your maze.
You can also add some cedar trees around your maze too.
You’ll be sure to find a few villagers wandering around your maze in no time.
9. Flower Maze
Liven up your island with this gorgeous flower maze (and I truly me gorgeous)!
This maze just has an amazing style, and it’s pretty easy to build.
First, you’ll need to select a bunch of your favorite flowers. Then you can start planting them in your maze design.
It helps to map out the maze first, or at least have a rough idea how big it’ll be.
You could also create lots of different styles using the flowers, or you could arrange them by color or even by type of flower.
8. Elegant Maze
If you want to add some complexity to your island, but don’t want to make it too complicated, well this is the design to try.
This simple yet effective design will fit in a super small space, yet still look like a cutsey maze for your villagers.
All you need to create this design is hedges, flowers, and a statue (plus maybe some other decorations to drop around).
Add bunch of hedges to create your maze walls, and then you can then add some of your favorite custom stone designs around the paths for decoration.
And don’t forget to add lots of blue flowers and butterfly statues to fit the aesthetic!
Finish by adding a valiant statue to the very center.
7. Straw Maze
Doesn’t this just scream Halloween time?
(We actually featured this same maze in our Halloween ideas list, so it’s really something special!)
Add this natural-looking maze onto your island using just a few easy steps.
First, you’ll need to organize your straw fencing around whatever area you want. This creates the base perimeter for your maze.
You can then start to decorate the area with lots of yellow hyacinths to keep in with the theme, and be sure to add an arch to highlight your entrance.
Complete the look with wooden fences, shrubs, and hay bales around the area.
6. Shrub Maze
This basic shrub maze is the perfect addition to any island.
To make it, you’ll need to grab yourself some shrubs. You can purchase some from Leif, so be sure to talk to him whenever he visits your island.
You can then start to plant your shrubs in a maze shape, big or small. And when they’re fully grown, well, there’s your maze!
And it’s gonna look awesome. Especially once the shrubs are in season and they begin to flower.
You can also add some paintings inbetween your paths to really decorate your maze area, and of course don’t forget to add lots of trees and flowers too.
5. Classic Maze
This classic style of a shrubbery maze will definitely have visitors looking for their way out, with all these winding paths and dead ends.
This style fits well with more natural kinds of islands, and great for an outdoor park area.
To make this yourself you’ll need a large open space, and make sure you have plenty of hedges to create this look.
You can organize your hedges into different winding paths in your chosen area, and then you can then lie down some custom stone paths to guide visitors through.
Be sure to add some iron benches in different spots, so your villagers can take a well-deserved break as they make their way through your crazy concoction.
4. Carnival Maze
If you’ve got a carnival area or a theme park area on your island, then this maze is bound to match perfectly.
For this build you’ll need to first grab some custom hay style flooring, and then add some wooden fencing and arrange it into a maze.
You can even make your own custom ‘start here’ sign to really tie the whole look together.
Then finish by adding some hay, barrels, and a rope fence at the entrance.
3. Old-School 3D Maze
This creation is a maze with a twist, where visitors can enter the maze from ground level, but they can also walk along the cliff tops.
And the theme is old-school video games!
To get started on this incredible design, you’ll need to start by building some cliffs leaving pathways in-between each one.
Be sure to add your favorite custom paths around the paths, as well as on the cliff tops. Jazz it up a bit with some really creative patterns!
And you can also add some of your favorite custom designs onto the clifftops for decoration, and of course, don’t forget to add a huge waterfall in the center of your maze.
2. Cliff Maze
Quickly transform part of your island into a maze-filled wonderland with this cliff build!
This one is for the more adventurous players, so if you’re up for a challenge and think you’ve got what it takes, try building your way through this complex mega-maze.
To start creating this epic maze for yourself, you’ll first need to build a series of cliffs. But be sure to leave small paths running in between, and be sure there’s actually an exit somewhere!
We don’t want any villagers trapped overnight.
You can then add some custom paths leading around the maze, along with some flowers on top of the cliffs for decoration.
1. Mario Maze
Use the new Mario items to their full potential with this awesome Mario-themed maze idea!
To create this look, start by adding some brick flooring and arranging some brick walls around the area to create the maze.
You could also try building custom patterns to match the original Super Mario Bros. ground patterns.
Once you have the basic maze setup, then start to fill some empty spaces with coins to give it a style that Nintendo would adore.
Complete the look by adding blocks, thwomps, and mushrooms!
Maybe even toss a warp pipe in there somewhere.
