Microsoft Designer, a new app for creating presentations and graphics, is a powerful tool that fuses PowerPoint with Dall-E 2 artificial intelligence (AI) art. The app is available on the Microsoft Store for free and allows users to create professional-looking presentations in minutes. The app’s interface is simple and easy to use, with a drag-and-drop interface that makes it easy to add graphics and photos from your computer. You can also use the app to create charts, graphs, and tables. The app also has a built-in speaker notes feature that lets you jot down ideas as you present, without having to stop the presentation to write down notes. The Microsoft Designer app is perfect for business professionals who need to create professional presentations quickly and easily. It’s also great for students who need an easy way to create high-quality visuals for their papers and projects. ..
Microsoft Designer was announced today, based on the Designer feature in PowerPoint, which attempts to match the content of your slideshows with less-generic backgrounds. The new dedicated Designer app is branded as a graphic design tool “that helps you create stunning social media posts, invitations, digital postcards, graphics, and more, all in a flash.”
The new app allows you to type in text, which appears like the title of a PowerPoint slide, as well as a text prompt for generating a background image. Microsoft is using DALL-E 2 by OpenAI to create the images, so they should look reasonably fine — though generating designs for commercial use with AI art is still a murky field. You can also substitute your own images, which are integrated into Microsoft’s templates.
Designer is available today as a web preview, which is free but has a waitlist. Microsoft says it will be available as a free app when it’s ready, with “more premium features available to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers.” Microsoft also plans to add a version of Designer to Microsoft Edge, because Edge definitely needs more bloat.
