Opera, the web browser that wants you to come back, has made a new feature for its desktop and mobile browsers: a TikTok sidebar. The sidebar is a place where you can find popular videos from Opera’s video library, as well as trending videos from around the web. You can also watch short clips from Opera’s own short films and TV shows. Opera says the sidebar is designed to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for on the web. The company says it’s been testing the feature with users in Germany and Italy, and plans to roll it out globally in the coming weeks. ..

Opera already has a customizable sidebar for quick access to music services and social media platforms, which open the specified site in a compact vertical window. Opera is now adding TikTok to the list of sidebar options, following a survey conducted by the company that reported “65 percent of the people who use TikTok from the 18-35 age group would like to use it in their desktop browser.”

The new TikTok sidebar is just the website embedded in a vertical pane — there’s no special integration or unique experience, besides that it can be pinned to the sidebar for easy access. Opera proudly proclaimed in a blog post that “today’s release makes Opera the only browser to offer a way to enjoy TikTok without opening a separate app or having to search through tabs.” Was typing in tiktok.com or clicking a bookmark really that tedious?

Opera is rolling out TikTok integration now, which can be enabled by clicking the three dots at the bottom of the sidebar and selecting it in the ‘Messengers’ section. People using other browsers will have to continue the hardship of typing in the address, using a bookmark, or installing the Windows app.
